2: Christmass 2011 at SBC
Published on Thu 01st Dec 2011
Two thousand years ago Jesus was born into this world. Tyrants were ruling, rich people were oppressing the poor, there was military oppression. Wow, the Bible certainly is true when it says there is nothing new under the sun! Uncertainty and bewilderment, bills going up and wages going down. These same things are seen in our newspapers and on our televisions nearly every day.
And God’s answer to the darkness and uncertainty was to send the Light of the World, Jesus.
When the light comes we begin to see clearly. In the light of Jesus a whole new world opens up to us. It’s a world were belonging and caring take centre stage. It’s a world where giving brings more joy than receiving. It’s a world where love for one’s neighbours is still a challenge but one that you’re more willing to engage in.
Jesus said that He came that we might have life and that we might have it in abundance. So come along to church and get to know Him this Christmas – stop dancing in the dark, come and celebrate in the light.
We would love to see you over the Christmas Holidays. Our seasonal services are . . .
- Christingle Service for all the family. Come and enjoy a very hands on event on the 18th at 10.30am
- Carols by Candlelight – a traditional carol service with all your favourite carols and Christmas readings with a Christmas message to inspire hope. Starts at 6.30pm on the 18th
- On Christmas Eve there will be a late night service at 11.30pm that will have the breaking of bread and the sharing of wine – come along and reflect a while.
- Christmas Day as short Family Service begins at 10.30am

We can help again in a simple way, by signing an on-line petition to persuade our government to ‘opt in to the EU Directive on Human Trafficking to ensure that trafficking into and within the EU stops and that those involved are properly prosecuted’.
Once the petition is signed you can use the site to email your MP on the subject [Tim Loughten for us living in Shoreham & East Worthing]
