Published on Thu 08th Apr 2010
Support ‘Hope for Justice’ - fight against people trafficking and modern slavery.
Update: we had a brilliant evening - thanks to John & Julia Lillywhite and their team. The auction, under Dave Buck’s mighty hammer, raised £944 and, with your other donations, we were able to send a grand total of £1185!
We supported this brilliant charity, with dinner, dance and a promise auction - over thirty one outstanding promises to bid for - listed here.

HELP NEEDED
[We have left these notes for anyone who’s thinking of organising a similar event]Help will be needed to make this evening a reality. I know some of you have already volunteered to help, thank you very much, but we will need more.
I have divided up the jobs, here is a list:
- Publicity and ticket sales
- Decorate the church
- Lay up tables on the day
- Prepare cold buffet
- Run the bar. As many of you know we are not allowed alcohol in the building, so we are planning to run a mocktail bar
- Auction: Dave Buck has volunteered to be our auctioneer on the night, but there will still be things to do before then. Dave has also asked for an assistant on the night; he hasn’t specified that it has to be a glamorous assistant but…
- Music: Matt Brunton will be organising the disco, to suit a mixture of different tastes
- Clear up afterwards
If you feel you can help, please let Julia Lillywhite or Ruth Orr know.
