Lent Course 2006
CHURCHES TOGETHER - SHOREHAM - LENT COURSE 2006
The theme this year will be on Centering Prayer. This is drawn from the ancient prayer practise of the Christian Contemplative Heritage - the Desert Fathers.
You are invited to St. Peter's Church on Wednesdays in March from 7.30-9pm.
The course material will be based on the text from Matthew 6:6-9. It will follow the teaching of Thomas Keating OCSO, explaining the method of Centering prayer with some experiential work in small groups.
March 8th - Developing a relationship with God
March 15th - The Method of Centering Prayer (CP)
March 22nd Coping with the thoughts that arise in the silence.
March 29th Deepening our relationship with God and how the practise of CP can affect our life.
The course will be led by Jan Nowak who is a trained presenter of Centering Prayer and the local co-coordinator for Contemplative Outreach UK - the organisation that promotes the practise of CP and trains presenters. Jan has been associated with the organisation for 12 years and organised Introductory days, Quiet Days and prayer groups in the Brighton area.
